Frequently asked
My aurora alerts are not arriving
First check that notifications are allowed: open your phone’s Settings, find Aurora Iceland, and make sure notifications are enabled. In the app, check the Alerts tab — alerts must be switched on, and your thresholds (minimum score, maximum cloud cover) and quiet hours decide when we wake you. If the sky simply hasn’t met your thresholds, no alert is the correct behaviour.
I reinstalled the app — where is my Aurora Pass?
Your pass restores automatically: it is tied to your device, and the app re-checks it on launch. If it doesn’t appear, use “Restore purchases” in the More tab. Annual subscriptions restore through your App Store account the same way.
The verdict says “Not tonight” but I can see aurora — or the other way round
Forecasts are estimates. Clouds shift faster than any model, and aurora activity comes in waves. When the verdict is “Worth a try”, treat it literally — step outside, look north, give your eyes ten minutes.
Why does the whole week show “Not tonight” in summer?
From May to early August Iceland has the midnight sun — the sky never gets dark enough to see the aurora, no matter how strong the activity is. The season picks up again from late August.
When you write to us
For purchase or alert issues, include the device identifier shown at the bottom of the app’s More tab — we identify devices only by that random id, so it lets us find your registration without knowing who you are.
